Since taking charge in 2001, Levy oversaw a dramatic evolution at Spurs

Daniel Levy has officially stepped down as Executive Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, bringing to a close a transformative 25-year reign at the North London club.

Since taking charge in 2001, Levy oversaw a dramatic evolution at Spurs — from a mid-table side to a club with world-class infrastructure and regular European ambitions. Under his leadership, Tottenham built a state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a cutting-edge training complex in Enfield, and reached the UEFA Champions League Final in 2019.

However, despite the progress off the pitch, silverware remained elusive. In over two decades, Spurs lifted just two major trophies — the 2008 League Cup and the long-awaited triumph in the UEFA Europa League 2025. For a club with such ambition, the trophy cabinet remained frustratingly bare.

Levy developed a reputation as a fierce negotiator and a master of the transfer market, often pulling off high-profile deals — for better or worse. Yet his tenure was also marked by frequent managerial changes and growing frustration among supporters over the club’s inability to consistently challenge for the Premier League title.
