Fonseca was shown a red card for disagreeing with a decision made by the referee

The French referee Benoit Millot has shared his emotional response after being attacked by Olympique Lyon's head coach Paulo Fonseca during Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash against Brest.

During the match, Fonseca was shown a red card for disagreeing with a decision made by the referee. However, after his dismissal, the Portuguese coach approached Millot, pressed his head against the referee's forehead, and shouted in his face. Later, Fonseca apologized, admitting that his actions were "wrong." According to reports from RMC Sport, the Lyon boss could face a suspension of up to seven months for the outburst.

In his first comments following the altercation, Millot expressed his shock at the incident. "It kept escalating. He became even more tense, as if trying to strike me. A headbutt, essentially. I hadn't even had the chance to announce my final decision, which was not awarding a penalty. There was barely a touch, if we’re being precise. It was shocking. He rushed at me with an aggressive posture. We cannot tolerate this kind of behavior," said Millot, as quoted by L'Equipe.
