Thomas Müller Emerges as Top MLS Target for Summer Transfer Window
Major League Soccer has placed Thomas Müller at the top of its summer transfer wishlist. The veteran Bayern Munich forward is emerging as a marquee target for several MLS franchises, with Los Angeles FC leading the chase.
According to reports from the recent MLS Board of Governors meeting in Chicago, club executives across the league have collectively identified Müller as a priority signing — a move that could boost both on-field quality and international appeal.
LAFC, a strategic partner of Bayern Munich, is currently considered the frontrunner. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen reportedly discussed the idea with Müller’s camp and is actively pushing the move forward. The German club sees potential in sending one of its icons to a sister club with a growing global footprint.
However, the MLS faces stiff competition. Several Premier League sides, clubs in Turkey, and two teams from Serie A — including Fiorentina — have expressed concrete interest. Fiorentina notably has past experience working with high-profile German players such as Mario Gómez and Franck Ribéry, which could play a role in luring Müller to Florence.
As for Müller himself, he is yet to decide whether he’ll hang up his boots or continue his storied career. Sources close to the player say he’s in no rush and will likely take his time until mid-June before making a final decision. That said, a move could be finalized sooner, particularly ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
