Inter Milan Edge Past Verona with Narrow Win Ahead of Barcelona Clash
With one eye on their upcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, Inter Milan fielded a rotated squad but still managed to secure a vital win in Serie A Matchday 35.
Hosting a struggling Hellas Verona side at the San Siro, head coach Simone Inzaghi gave several key players a rest. However, it was enough to get the job done. The only goal of the game came from a first-half penalty, calmly converted by Albanian midfielder Kristjan Asllani, who continues to grow in confidence with every appearance.
Inter maintained control for much of the match without shifting into top gear, clearly conserving energy for the crucial European showdown midweek. Verona, meanwhile, showed some fight but lacked the cutting edge to truly threaten.
The result keeps Inter Milan firmly in second place in the Serie A standings, while Verona sit dangerously close to the drop zone in 16th.
