Venezia - Fiorentina 2:1

Venezia produced a stunning 2–1 win over Fiorentina on Matchday 36 of the Serie A season, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone in dramatic fashion and effectively ending La Viola’s slim hopes of European qualification.

Heading into the match, Fiorentina still harbored outside ambitions of reaching the UEFA Conference League. However, a lacklustre performance against a desperate relegation-threatened side saw those hopes dashed at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.

The hosts took the lead in the 60th minute when defender Fali Candé rose highest to head home from a set piece. Just eight minutes later, midfielder Gaetano Oristanio doubled the advantage with a well-placed finish that left the Fiorentina keeper stranded. Although Rolando Mandragora pulled one back for the visitors in the 78th minute, it proved to be too little, too late.

Survival within reach for Venezia

The crucial three points see Venezia leapfrog out of the bottom three, climbing to 17th place in the Serie A standings. With just two games remaining, their fate is now in their own hands as they aim to secure top-flight football for next season.
