Official: Jeremie Frimpong Joins Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen
Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, with the Dutch international set to fill the right-back role vacated by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 24-year-old defender enjoyed a standout 2024–25 campaign with Leverkusen, featuring in 47 matches across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing nine assists. Known for his blistering pace and attacking intent, Frimpong arrives at Anfield as one of Europe’s most dynamic defenders.
Born in Amsterdam, Frimpong began his career in the Manchester City youth academy before making a move to Celtic in 2019. During his 18 months in Glasgow, he won three domestic titles, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite.
In January 2021, he joined Bayer Leverkusen and flourished under Xabi Alonso, helping the Bundesliga side rise to prominence both domestically and in Europe.
Frimpong made his senior debut for the Netherlands national team in October 2023 and has since earned 12 international caps, scoring one goal.
