PSG Open Talks to Sign Bournemouth Defender Illia Zabarnyi
Paris Saint-Germain have made their first formal move to sign Illia Zabarnyi from AFC Bournemouth, according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins. The Ukrainian centre-back has reportedly given the green light for the transfer and is keen to join the French champions.
PSG’s sporting advisor Luis Campos is leading the negotiations, with the club aiming to finalize the deal swiftly. “Zabarnyi is attracted by PSG’s project and has already agreed to the move to Paris,” Hawkins reported. “PSG want to close the transfer quickly.”
The 21-year-old impressed in the Premier League last season with solid performances for Bournemouth, catching the eye of several top European clubs. PSG, who are fresh off their latest UEFA Champions League triumph, appear determined to reinforce their back line with young, high-potential talent.
Second Premier League Player Also on PSG’s Radar
Hawkins also noted that PSG are working on another signing from the Premier League, though the identity of the second target remains undisclosed at this time.
This is not the first time PSG have pursued Zabarnyi. Last summer, the Parisian giants were also linked with the Ukrainian international but ultimately opted to sign Willian Pacho from Eintracht Frankfurt. With Pacho’s future now uncertain and defensive depth a top priority, Zabarnyi has returned to the top of Campos' shortlist.
