One of the most iconic figures in the history of English football is set to be awarded a knighthood

David Beckham, one of the most iconic figures in the history of English football, is set to be awarded a knighthood as part of King Charles III’s Birthday Honours List.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, who turned 50 this year, was previously honoured with the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003. Now, over two decades later, he will be officially recognised with one of the highest honours in British society — not only for his contributions to football but also for his extensive charitable work and impact on public life.

Beckham played a vital role in helping to bring the London 2012 Olympic Games to the UK and has served as a global ambassador for UNICEF and the King’s Foundation. His influence off the pitch has continued to resonate long after he retired from professional football in 2013.

Over the course of his illustrious playing career, Beckham earned 115 caps for England, captaining the national team for six years. At club level, he represented global giants including Manchester United, LA Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, and Real Madrid.

Interestingly, Beckham was first nominated for knighthood back in 2011. His forthcoming investiture will now officially elevate him to the title of Sir David Beckham.
