His move to Stamford Bridge signals Chelsea’s continued investment in youth

p>Chelsea have secured the signing of another highly-rated young talent — and this time it’s one of Ligue 1’s rising stars. The Blues have officially confirmed that 19-year-old defender Mamadou Sarr will join the squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Sarr made a name for himself at RC Strasbourg last season, quickly becoming a key figure in the club’s backline as they clinched a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League. His move to Stamford Bridge signals Chelsea’s continued investment in youth, with the club announcing a contract that runs all the way until 2033.

The young centre-back is also expected to be part of the Chelsea squad that competes in the FIFA Club World Cup, adding another layer of experience to his already impressive résumé.

Mamadou Sarr began his career at Olympique Lyonnais, where he graduated from the club’s prestigious youth academy. On the international stage, he has already tasted success: in April 2022, he helped lead the France U17 team to victory at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
