Official: Cristian Chivu Appointed as New Inter Milan Head Coach
Inter Milan have officially named Cristian Chivu as the club's new head coach, marking a significant shift as the Serie A giants turn to one of their own legends to guide them into a new era.
The 44-year-old Romanian, a former Inter Milan defender and more recently the coach of their Primavera side, was on the verge of taking over last Friday. However, contractual obligations with Parma, where Chivu was under contract, delayed the official announcement. As of today, Chivu has been formally released, paving the way for his long-anticipated return to the San Siro.
Chivu won't be coming alone. Joining his backroom staff is none other than Walter Samuel, another iconic figure from Inter’s historic treble-winning squad. The Argentine defender, who formed a rock-solid partnership with Chivu during their playing days, will serve as his assistant.
Between 2007 and 2014, Chivu and Samuel were defensive mainstays at Inter, winning multiple titles together — including the famous UEFA Champions League triumph in 2010 under José Mourinho.
