Heorhii Sudakov: "I Want to Develop and Test Myself in Europe"
Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Heorhii Sudakov has opened up about his ambitions to move abroad, as interest from major European clubs continues to grow — most notably from Napoli.
In a candid interview with YouTube channel Ready to Fight, the 21-year-old Ukrainian international expressed mixed emotions about potentially leaving his boyhood club.
“I can say one thing: as much as I want to move to another club, I also don’t want to leave. Shakhtar is like a second family to me — the team, the atmosphere, even the level of club management. In some ways, I think it’s even better than in Europe,” Sudakov admitted.
“But I want to grow, to challenge myself at the European level. Especially when real offers are on the table.”
When asked whether Shakhtar Donetsk felt like a “golden cage,” Sudakov was clear: “Not anymore. The club is truly open to selling players and willing to talk.”
Sudakov had a standout 2024/25 campaign, appearing in 37 matches across all competitions and logging 3,081 minutes. He finished the season as Shakhtar's top scorer with 15 goals and also led the team in goal contributions with 6 assists.
