The German international opted for financial certainty

Leroy Sané is on the verge of a shock move to Galatasaray, as the Bayern Munich winger prepares to sign a two-year contract with the Turkish champions, including an option to extend for a third season.

The 29-year-old will reportedly earn a guaranteed €15 million per year in Istanbul, a key factor in his decision to leave the Bundesliga giants. While Bayern Munich had matched the annual figure in their renewal offer, only a portion of it was guaranteed.

Initial terms offered by Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl were structured as €10 million in base salary plus €5 million in performance-based bonuses. After Sané expressed dissatisfaction, Bayern revised the offer to €12 million guaranteed and €3 million in add-ons.

Still, the German international opted for financial certainty, reportedly telling close associates that “three guaranteed million is nothing to sneeze at,” especially considering his age and injury history.

Now approaching 30, and with several muscle injuries behind him, this could well be the final major contract of Sané’s career. Despite having previously spoken of loyalty to Bayern and his ambitions in Munich, the lure of a fully guaranteed package appears to have tipped the scales.
