Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano has outlined his tactical approach ahead of the club's FIFA Club World Cup 2025 opener against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

"They have a unique style — physically dominant, with traits common to African teams, and tactical elements borrowed from Arab nations. Al Ahly have several technically gifted players, especially in midfield and attack," Mascherano told reporters.

"Our plan is simple: take the initiative, limit their most dangerous players, and neutralise their key strengths. We want to dictate the rhythm, create our chances, and play our football to achieve a positive result."

The highly anticipated clash between Al Ahly and Inter Miami will take place on 15 June, with kick-off scheduled for 02:00 CET.
