The deal was finalized on Thursday, with the transfer fee reported to be in the region of £52 million

Chelsea forward Noni Madueke will not feature in the FIFA Club World Cup final after completing a high-profile transfer to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old flew back to England overnight from the United States to undergo a medical in London, ahead of his official unveiling as a new signing for the Gunners.

Madueke departed the squad just hours before Chelsea’s final showdown against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), a dramatic turn of events considering he played in all five of the Blues’ matches en route to the final. Despite missing the decider, he remains eligible to receive a winner’s medal if Chelsea lift the trophy.

The deal was finalized on Thursday, with the transfer fee reported to be in the region of £52 million. The move is seen as part of Chelsea’s strategy to stay within Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations following a period of heavy investment in the squad.
