Another Goalless Draw at Club World Cup 2025: Dull Dortmund Hold Off Spirited Fluminense

Group F opened with a tightly contested goalless draw between Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund as the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup entered its next stage.

Dortmund Struggle to Find Motivation

Among all the European clubs featured so far in the tournament, Dortmund appeared the least enthusiastic to participate. Bound by obligation rather than ambition, the German side looked flat and disinterested, at least in their tournament opener.

By contrast, Fluminense — particularly in the first half — showcased urgency and attacking intent. The Brazilian side was led by the lively Jhon Arias, who found himself in promising shooting positions on multiple occasions.

Debut for Jobe Bellingham

There was a debut for Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Jude Bellingham, who recently joined Dortmund. While he bears a striking resemblance to his sibling, expectations should be tempered — this was his first competitive appearance for the club, and he is still integrating into the team.

Even Game, Predictable Scoreline

In the end, the match was balanced and uneventful, resulting in a fair 0-0 draw. Elsewhere in Group F, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and South Korea’s Ulsan will also be competing for a place in the knockout stage.
