Florian Wirtz, widely regarded as one of Europe’s brightest midfield talents, has officially signed for Liverpool. The 22-year-old German star joins the Reds on a long-term contract after completing his medical and agreeing personal terms, the club announced today.

““I feel very happy and very proud. Finally it’s done and I was waiting for a long time – finally it’s done and I am really happy,” Wirtz told Liverpoolfc.com. ““I'm really excited to have a new adventure in front of me. This was also a big point of my thoughts: that I want to have something completely new, to go out of the Bundesliga and to join the Premier League.”

Although the club has not disclosed the fee, reports suggest the deal is worth €137 million — a figure that would make Wirtz the most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history.

The German international arrives after a stellar season in the Bundesliga and is expected to play a key role in Arne Slot’s midfield rebuild at Anfield.
