The 21-year-old midfielder had only just returned to the squad after missing the end of the Bundesliga season

Jamal Musiala has suffered yet another injury setback during FC Bayern Munich’s narrow 2-1 win over Boca Juniors in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The 21-year-old midfielder had only just returned to the squad after missing the end of the Bundesliga season and the UEFA Nations League Final Four due to a previous injury. New head coach Vincent Kompany had been easing him back into action, bringing Musiala off the bench in both of Bayern’s recent matches in the United States.

But even that cautious approach wasn’t enough. After coming on in the 57th minute, Musiala lasted just 25 minutes before he was forced off the pitch, visibly in discomfort, and replaced by Thomas Müller.

Initial reports from Bayern’s medical team suggest the injury is not serious, which offers a glimmer of hope. However, the club has yet to disclose the exact nature of the issue or provide a timeline for Musiala’s return. There’s growing concern that the Germany international might miss the remainder of the tournament.
