Barcelona Confirm Szczęsny Stay as Romeu and Torre Set to Depart
Barcelona have made decisions on the futures of three squad members, with sporting director Deco providing updates on Sunday.
First, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny will remain at the club for another season. The Polish international is set to sign a one-year contract extension and will serve as the backup to Joan García for the 2025/26 campaign.
However, Oriol Romeu is on his way out. The 33-year-old midfielder does not feature in the plans of new head coach Hansi Flick and is free to find a new club this summer.
Meanwhile, Pablo Torre is also expected to leave, though his situation remains more open-ended. Barcelona are keen to retain some control over the 22-year-old’s future. A loan move is currently under consideration, as well as a possible permanent transfer with a buy-back clause included.
