Salzburg and Al Hilal Leave Qualification Hanging Ahead of Final Group Stage Clash
The race for the knockout stages at the FIFA Club World Cup remains wide open after Al Hilal and Red Bull Salzburg played out a tense 0–0 draw in their second group match.
Following an impressive opening draw with Real Madrid, Al Hilal once again showcased their ability to compete with Europe’s elite. The Saudi giants had the better chances and dictated much of the game’s tempo, while the Austrians were left clinging on at times — luck, perhaps, was Salzburg’s best defender on the night.
The stalemate leaves Group C delicately poised heading into the final round. Red Bull Salzburg top the group with 4 points, but face a daunting final match against Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Al Hilal sit on 2 points and will be confident heading into their clash with Mexico’s Pachuca.
