The countdown to the new Bundesliga season is officially on. On Friday, June 27, the German top flight will unveil its full fixture list for the 2025/26 campaign.

As tradition dictates, the opening match will feature the defending champions Bayern Munich, who are set to kick off their season on August 22th. The Bavarians will also feature in the German Supercup a week earlier, on August 16.

Meanwhile, the DFB-Pokal will get underway a week before the Bundesliga, with the first-round matches scheduled for August 15–18. Teams involved in the Supercup will have their domestic cup ties moved to August 26–27.

Key Dates for the 2025/26 German Football Season

  • German Supercup: August 16, 2025
  • Matchday 1 – Bundesliga: August 22–24, 2025
  • Matchday 1 – 2. Bundesliga: August 1–3, 2025
  • DFB-Pokal Round 1: August 15–18, 2025 (rescheduled to Aug 26–27 for Supercup teams)
  • Winter break: December 22, 2025 – January 9, 2026 (Bundesliga), until January 16 (2. Bundesliga)
  • Final matchday (MD34) – Bundesliga: May 16, 2026
  • Final matchday (MD34) – 2. Bundesliga: May 17, 2026
  • Promotion/Relegation Play-offs: May 21–22 and May 25–26, 2026
