The early fireworks from the Bundesliga side gave them a comfortable cushion heading into the break

Borussia Dortmund are through to the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup after a confident 2-1 victory over Mexican side CF Monterrey.

The star of the show was none other than Serhou Guirassy, who delivered a clinical first-half brace — both goals coming from sharp assists by the ever-electric Karim Adeyemi. The early fireworks from the Bundesliga side gave them a comfortable cushion heading into the break.

To their credit, Monterrey came out fighting in the second half and managed to pull one back shortly after the restart. But despite their spirited effort, they struggled to break down Dortmund’s disciplined shape and never truly looked like completing the comeback.
