Modrić will wear the iconic No.14 shirt at San Siro

AC Milan have officially announced the signing of veteran Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić. The 39-year-old has penned a contract valid until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend for an additional season. Modrić will wear the iconic No.14 shirt at San Siro.

The move marks the end of a legendary chapter at Real Madrid, where Modrić spent 13 glittering seasons. In the 2024/25 campaign, the midfield maestro featured in 63 matches across all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 9 assists — a testament to his enduring influence on the pitch despite his age.

During his time in Madrid, Modrić played 597 games and became the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s storied history, amassing an astonishing 28 trophies. His honours include:

  • 6 UEFA Champions League titles
  • 5 FIFA Club World Cups
  • 4 La Liga titles
  • 1 Ballon d’Or (2018)

In addition to his club success, Modrić continues to serve as captain of the Croatian national team. He holds the national record for appearances with 188 caps and has scored 28 goals for his country, leading them to the World Cup final in 2018 and multiple deep tournament runs.
