If completed, the move would surpass Newcastle’s previous transfer record of €70 million

Newcastle United are preparing a sensational move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, with a proposed offer in the region of €72–74 million—one that would break the club’s all-time transfer record.

According to multiple sources, the move is indirectly linked to a domino effect started by Luis Díaz’s expected transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich. Díaz’s exit could help finance Liverpool’s push for Alexander Isak, which in turn would prompt Newcastle to secure his replacement in the form of the prolific Slovenian forward.

The 21-year-old Šeško has a gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig allowing him to leave under the right conditions — most notably, if the offer is substantial and the player expresses a desire to move. Sources suggest that Newcastle’s bid would meet the financial threshold, making player interest the final key to unlocking the deal.

If completed, the move would surpass Newcastle’s previous transfer record of €70 million, set when they signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad in 2022—a poetic twist, as Šeško would be brought in to replace the very player whose record he’d be breaking.
