Florian Wirtz marked his debut with a goal as Liverpool came from behind to defeat Yokohama F. Marinos 3–1 in a pre-season friendly at Nissan Stadium.

The hosts took the lead early in the second half through Asahi Uenaka, but Wirtz, who recently arrived from Bayer Leverkusen, responded quickly with a composed finish to level the match. Just minutes later, substitute Trey Nyoni put Liverpool ahead before young talent Rio Ngumoha sealed the win with a third late on.

Another notable moment saw French forward Hugo Ekitike make his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt after coming on at halftime.
