Chelsea have completed the signing of highly-rated Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax in a deal worth close to £38 million, or approximately €43 million, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old has penned a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, tying him to the club until 2032. He becomes the seventh summer signing under new head coach Enzo Maresca as the Blues continue to reshape their squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

Hato made headlines in the Eredivisie by debuting for Ajax at just 16 years old, becoming the club’s third-youngest debutant in history. The left-footed centre-back is widely considered one of the most promising defensive talents in Europe.
