Rasmus Højlund Eyed as Potential Replacement for Lukaku at Napoli
Napoli are stepping up their search for a new striker following an injury setback for Romelu Lukaku — but their shortlist is starting to get complicated.
According to reports in Italy, Roma have offered Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk to Napoli. The striker is reportedly not part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s long-term plans at the capital club, and is being actively shopped around as Roma reshuffle their attack.
Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson was also considered by Antonio Conte, but the Blues' asking price is believed to be too steep for the Serie A champions.
However, a new twist has emerged: insider Gianluigi Longari claims that Napoli have now been offered the chance to sign Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United. The 21-year-old Danish international could become a serious alternative as Napoli assess their options in the coming days.
Højlund, who joined United from Atalanta in a big-money move just last summer, is reportedly attracting interest from AC Milan as well. Manager Massimiliano Allegri is said to be keen on bringing in a striker to compete with Santiago Giménez, and the Danish forward fits the bill.
