Højlund joined United last summer from Atalanta in a deal worth up to €75 million

Napoli are in advanced talks to sign Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United, with the Italian club pushing to finalise a loan deal amid a striker injury crisis following Romelu Lukaku’s setback.

According to multiple sources in Italy, a decisive phone call is expected later today between Napoli and the Danish striker’s representatives. If Napoli can convince the player of the project, negotiations with United are expected to move quickly toward completion.

The proposed deal would see Højlund join Napoli on a season-long loan for €5 million, with an option – or obligation – to buy in the summer of 2026 for an additional €40 million. Personal terms are reportedly agreed in principle, with a contract until June 2030 and a salary of €5 million per year awaiting the 21-year-old.

Manchester United appear open to the deal, as new head coach Rúben Amorim does not see Højlund as part of his immediate plans. The striker has not featured in the squad at the start of the new season, further fuelling exit rumours.

Højlund joined United last summer from Atalanta in a deal worth up to €75 million, but struggled to fully establish himself at Old Trafford. A move back to Serie A could offer the pacey forward a chance to reignite his form and confidence.
