The main stage of the tournament kicks off on December 10

The final of the newly revived FIFA Intercontinental Cup will take place in Qatar, the global governing body confirmed on its official website.

The main stage of the tournament kicks off on December 10 at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, with a clash between Mexican giants Cruz Azul and the winners of the Copa Libertadores, who will be decided in November. The winner of that tie advances to the semi-finals, where Egyptian side Pyramids FC await. That semi-final is scheduled for December 13, also at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.

The victor will earn the right to face French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the final showdown, set for December 17. While the venue for the title match is yet to be confirmed, the expectation is for it to remain in Qatar, reinforcing the country's growing presence on the global football stage.

Defending champions Real Madrid lifted the trophy in the previous edition after a commanding win over Mexican side Pachuca.
