All Coupe de France Round of 16 Teams Come from Ligue 1 and 2 for the First Time Since 1991

For the first time since 1991, the Round of 16 in the Coupe de France features exclusively clubs from France’s top two divisions. All 16 remaining teams competing for the prestigious domestic trophy come from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, marking a rare moment of elite-only competition in French cup history.
This year’s tournament has seen no room for giant-killing surprises from lower-league sides, creating a distinctly high-caliber lineup. Every tie now involves clubs with professional pedigrees, raising the stakes and expectations for fans and pundits alike.
Of the 16 clubs, 10 represent Ligue 1, while the remaining 6 hail from Ligue 2. Notably absent are teams from the Championnat National or amateur divisions, which traditionally inject unpredictability and drama into the competition.
