Yaremchuk reunites with familiar faces after Lyon move

Roman Yaremchuk has made his first official comments following the announcement of his move to Lyon.
“I’m very happy to be here and to see Clinton again, someone I played with at Club Brugge. I also know Paulo Fonseca very well. The atmosphere at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais really impressed me, and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans,” the Ukrainian forward said, as quoted by the club’s official media.
According to reports, Fonseca was the driving force behind the move. The Lyon head coach crossed paths briefly with Yaremchuk during the Ukrainian Premier League in 2017, when the Dynamo Kyiv academy graduate was on loan at Oleksandriya before securing a transfer to Gent.
Lyon are in clear need of a reliable goalscorer. Despite sitting fourth in Ligue 1, the team’s attacking output has been modest, with just 33 goals in 20 league matches so far this season.
