Girona’s expected relegation to the Segunda División is likely to trigger a major squad overhaul this summer, with several key players heading for the exit door. Among the most talked-about names on the market is Ukraine international Viktor Tsygankov.

The Catalan club had hoped the winger would become one of their biggest financial assets, but securing a high-value transfer may prove more complicated than expected.

Tsygankov, a regular for the Ukraine national team, will miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Serhiy Rebrov’s side failed to qualify for the tournament. Concerns over the winger’s recurring fitness issues have also raised doubts among potential buyers.

Adding to the uncertainty is his contract situation. Tsygankov is tied to Girona only until the summer of 2027, while former club Dynamo Kyiv still hold a 50% sell-on clause from any future transfer fee — a detail that could significantly affect negotiations.

Despite those complications, the 27-year-old remains a highly attractive profile both in La Liga and abroad. Several Premier League clubs monitored him closely last season, while recent reports have also linked the Ukrainian winger with a potential move to Ajax.
