The top three generated more than €1.1 billion in transfer sales between them

Chelsea enjoyed one of the most remarkable transfer windows of the summer, with more than €850 million worth of business completed. Despite maintaining an almost perfect balance between spending and sales, the Blues still finished the window with a €41.1 million profit.

Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester City — generated more than €1.1 billion in transfer sales between them. The sheer scale of activity from Manchester City, together with Paris Saint-Germain in fourth place, makes this year's ranking particularly striking.

Chelsea moved to the top of the list thanks to a blockbuster deal completed on the final day before the transfer window closed. The Blues sold Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for €145 million. That deal came on top of more than €200 million already raised through the sales of Andrey Santos, Nicolas Jackson, Marc Cucurella and Liam Delap.

Aston Villa sit second after making significant changes to their squad following their Europa League triumph. The headline departure was Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea for €138 million. The other sales generated considerably less, although the €58.4 million deal that took 30-year-old Ollie Watkins to Al-Hilal can certainly be viewed as a major piece of business.

Manchester City did not complete a single sale worth more than €100 million, yet the Citizens still brought in a remarkable €337 million. The largest contribution came from winger Savio, with Tottenham Hotspur paying €87 million for the Brazilian.

However, City's impressive sales figures tell only half the story. Despite generating a huge amount of income from outgoing transfers, Manchester City's overall transfer balance remains firmly in the red. The club spent €189 million more on new players than it received from sales.

Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, continued their aggressive squad-building strategy after winning the Champions League in each of the previous two seasons. The French champions opted to refresh their attacking options, generating €334 million from the departures of Bradley Barcola (€125 million), Goncalo Ramos (€74 million) and 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye (€55 million).
