Marco Rossi: When we did not succeed, Italy hurt us

Marco Rossi, Hungary coach, commented on his team's perfomance in a Nations League against Italy.

"In the first half for large stretches we were unable to do what we planned and prepared. Unfortunately there was very little time to work on it and to prepare things. We wanted to slow down the play of their central defenders and take away the option of the central pass and force them to the wings: when we did not succeed, Italy hurt us.

In the second half the team played better. Yes, we lost, but we must be aware of who we are – we can't expect to come here and find it easy to get a result. Italy are the champions of Europe and a team made up of almost all players who play in Serie A.

I had already said it and I repeat it: I ask my boys to give their best on the pitch, to produce the maximum possible effort. When they do this, they can walk off the pitch with their heads held high. And when it happens our fans let us know immediately by singing the anthem. Thanks to the guys, even if we lost."
