Tomás Araújo, the Portuguese central defender from Benfica, could join Manchester United as early as this winter, according to a report by Fichajes.

The source claims that United’s head coach, Rúben Amorim, is personally interested in securing the 22-year-old defender. Amorim sees Araújo as a valuable addition to bolster his backline.

While Transfermarkt values Araújo at €15 million, Benfica is reportedly demanding no less than €50 million for their rising star. The defender’s contract with the Lisbon club runs until the summer of 2028, giving Benfica leverage in negotiations.

In the current season, Araújo has made 13 appearances across all competitions for Benfica, contributing one assist. His performances have drawn attention, and a move to Old Trafford could mark a significant step in his career.
