The 2025/26 La Liga season kicks off tomorrow with two opening clashes: Girona vs Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal vs Real Oviedo. Ahead of the first whistle, analytics giant Opta has released its latest title prediction — and it’s good news for fans of the reigning champions.

According to Opta’s supercomputer, which ran thousands of simulations, Barcelona are the most likely team to win the league this season, with a projected title probability of 48.5%.

Not far behind are arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are given a 32.1% chance of clinching the title. Atletico Madrid come in third with an 11.7% likelihood, followed by Villarreal (3.7%) and Athletic Club (2.9%) rounding out the top five contenders.

Eight other clubs are each given less than a 1% chance of lifting the trophy — and unfortunately, Girona, home to Ukrainian internationals Viktor Tsyhankov and Vladyslav Krapovtov, is among them.
