Osasuna See Off Valencia in Confident Home Victory
CA Osasuna claimed their first win of the La Liga season with a composed 1–0 victory over a struggling Valencia CF at the Estadio El Sadar, capitalising on an early red card to the visitors' captain, José Gayà.
Alessio Lisci’s side took control from the opening whistle and wasted little time in making their dominance count. In the 8th minute, a pinpoint cross from Jonas Ramalho Rosier found Ante Budimir, who powered home a header to give Osasuna the lead.
The hosts continued to push forward, with Moi Gómez and Víctor Muñoz both coming close to extending the advantage, but their finishing lacked precision.
Valencia never recovered from the setback in the 22nd minute, when Gayà clumsily brought down an opponent during a chaotic set-piece, earning a straight red and leaving his team down to ten men. The dismissal, which came as Gayà equalled the club’s all-time appearance record, was a bitter milestone on a difficult night.
Arnaut Danjuma thought he had rescued a late equaliser for Valencia, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review. Ultimately, the visitors failed to threaten Osasuna’s grip on the match, and Carlos Corberán’s side left Pamplona empty-handed once again.
