The news comes as a blow to fans eagerly awaiting the return to the spiritual home of the Blaugrana

The long and frustrating saga surrounding the reopening of FC Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou continues, as the club has once again been forced to delay its return to the historic venue.

Despite ongoing renovation efforts, local authorities have yet to grant approval for the stadium to host matches, citing ongoing safety and readiness concerns. The news comes as a blow to fans eagerly awaiting the return to the spiritual home of the Blaugrana.

Adding to the logistical headache, Barcelona’s temporary home — the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Montjuïc — is also unavailable this week. The venue is still being restored following a major concert held there last weekend, rendering it unfit for football.

As a result, Barcelona will be forced to host their upcoming La Liga fixture against Getafe at the far more modest Johan Cruyff Stadium, which has a capacity of just 6,000 spectators.

Ironically, the smaller venue may actually be bringing good luck. Barça played their previous home game at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, crushing Valencia with an emphatic 6-0 win. Next up: a clash with Getafe on Sunday, September 21.
