RCD Mallorca - Atletico Madrid 1:1

Atletico Madrid were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against RCD Mallorca in Matchday 5 of La Liga, after surrendering a late lead while playing with ten men.

The hosts had the chance to go in front in the first half, but Julian missed from the penalty spot, squandering a golden opportunity. Things went from bad to worse for Atletico in the second half when Alexander Sørloth was shown a straight red card in the 72nd minute, leaving the visitors down to ten men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Atletico struck first. On 78 minutes, Conor Gallagher fired the visitors ahead with a precise finish following a slick attacking move — his first goal for the club.

But the lead didn’t last. In the 84th minute, Vedat Muriqi rose to the occasion for Mallorca, heading home the equaliser to send the home crowd into celebration and deny Atletico all three points.
