Barcelona - Real Sociedad 2:1

FC Barcelona have taken full advantage of Real Madrid’s defeat, moving to the top of the La Liga table following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Despite falling behind early in the match, the Catalan giants responded with composure. Defender Jules Koundé levelled the score before half-time, finishing off a rebound inside the box to get Barça back on track.

The winning goal came in the 59th minute, when teenage sensation Lamine Yamal delivered a pinpoint cross into the area. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski rose highest and expertly headed the ball past the Sociedad keeper, securing all three points for Xavi Hernández’s side.

It was Lewandowski’s third goal of the season and a vital one, sending Barcelona to the top of the table as the 2025/26 La Liga title race begins to heat up.
