This move could pave the way for more regular international league fixtures, a long-discussed and often controversial idea in world football

In a landmark decision that could reshape the global football calendar, UEFA has officially approved the staging of top-tier league matches outside Europe. Football fans in the United States and Australia are in for a festive treat this December.

The headline clash of La Liga Matchday 17 between Villarreal and football giants FC Barcelona will take place at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, marking a bold step in bringing Spanish football closer to its international fanbase.

Meanwhile, Serie A is making waves Down Under. The much-anticipated Matchday 16 fixture between Como 1907 and seven-time European champions AC Milan will be hosted in Perth, Australia.

Both fixtures are slated for late December. While UEFA has given its approval, final confirmation from FIFA is still pending. If granted, this move could pave the way for more regular international league fixtures, a long-discussed and often controversial idea in world football.
