Barcelona have officially announced a contract extension for Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has committed his future to the club until 2029, according to a statement on the club’s website.

De Jong joined Barça from Ajax in 2019 for a reported fee of €86 million. Since then, he has made 267 appearances across all competitions, contributing 19 goals and 24 assists while establishing himself as one of the team’s key figures in midfield.

The 28-year-old has won two La Liga titles, as well as the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup during his time at the Camp Nou. The new long-term deal is seen as a statement of intent from Barcelona to retain their core players amid ongoing squad rebuild efforts.
