Neymar slammed by Spanish press after ‘embarrassing’ display for Santos

Neymar has once again come under heavy criticism following a poor performance for Santos in their 3–2 defeat to Flamengo. Spanish media described the 33-year-old forward as slow, off the pace and out of rhythm, with several outlets calling his display “a total embarrassment.”
It was the Brazilian’s first start in two months after returning from a thigh injury, but his lack of sharpness has raised serious concerns. If his form doesn’t improve soon, his place in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad could be in jeopardy. Neymar also voiced frustration with the officiating, claiming that “some of the referee’s decisions were laughable.”
Santos remain locked in a tense relegation battle, and the club’s struggles have reignited rumours about a potential move to Inter Miami, where Neymar could reunite with Lionel Messi if the Brazilian side fail to stay in the top flight.
