Neymar will continue his journey with Santos FC after the Brazilian club officially confirmed a contract extension that keeps the forward at the Vila Belmiro until 31 December 2026. Talks between the two sides lasted several weeks, but the outcome leaves no doubt: the superstar’s return home is no short-term story.

This new deal is already the third agreement signed since Neymar made his much-discussed comeback to Santos. Earlier in 2025, the parties had opted for two short-term six-month contracts. Now, however, they have committed to a longer partnership running through the end of 2026 — a timeline that also aligns with the conclusion of club president Marcelo Teixeira’s current term.

According to reports from Brazilian media, Santos FC are investing heavily to keep their iconic No.10. Neymar’s salary is said to be comparable to the combined wages of four or five first-team players. In addition to his playing contract, the club maintains a separate image rights agreement with NR Sports, the company owned by the player’s parents.

From the outset, the Neymar return project was designed to run at least until mid-2026, fitting into Brazil national team preparations for the FIFA World Cup. The club never seriously considered parting ways with its talisman and allowed negotiations with Neymar’s camp to progress without pressure.

For now, the focus for Neymar remains on recovery. The forward is rehabilitating after meniscus surgery on his left knee, with his return to competitive action not expected before mid-February.
