Real - Real Oviedo 2:0

What was supposed to be a routine evening at the Santiago Bernabeu turned into another uncomfortable chapter in an increasingly disappointing campaign for Real Madrid. The victory over Oviedo, secured through goals from youngster Gonzalo and Jude Bellingham, carried little sporting significance — and even less joy for the home supporters.

The mood inside the stadium told the real story. Large sections of the crowd directed loud whistles at Kylian Mbappe, with frustration boiling over after Real Madrid officially lost any remaining hopes of silverware following Barcelona’s title celebrations. The frustration was not limited to the French superstar. Vinicius Junior, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga also faced criticism from disappointed fans desperate for answers after a season that has fallen far below expectations.

Amid the negativity, there were still moments of warmth at the Bernabeu. Club icon Dani Carvajal received a standing ovation, while veteran playmaker Santi Cazorla was applauded respectfully by supporters who recognised his long-standing contribution to Spanish football.

The evening also brought fresh controversy off the pitch. Stadium security swiftly removed banners calling for the resignation of club president Florentino Perez, underlining the growing tension surrounding the direction of the club.

Oviedo, already resigned to relegation, still managed to create several dangerous moments of their own. Nacho Vidal came closest to punishing the hosts, but the visitors lacked the composure needed to capitalise on their opportunities.
