Argentina friendly moved from Chicago to Florida amid unrest
The upcoming international friendly between Argentina and Puerto Rico has been relocated from Chicago to Florida, according to reports from Goal. The decision was made due to ongoing political tensions and security concerns in the Chicago area.
The city is currently experiencing unrest linked to a dispute between local and federal authorities, as well as recently imposed immigration restrictions. With the National Guard deployed in parts of the city, organisers opted to move the match to a calmer location. Reports also suggest that low ticket sales, caused by the unstable situation, influenced the decision.
The friendly, scheduled for October 13, will now take place in Florida. Lionel Scaloni’s side — reigning World Cup and Copa América champions — will continue their preparations for upcoming international fixtures under safer conditions.
