Hamburger - RB Leipzig 1:2

RB Leipzig kept their European ambitions firmly on track with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Hamburger SV in Matchday 24 of the Bundesliga.

The hosts made the brighter start and were rewarded early on when Fábio Vieira fired Hamburger SV into the lead, capitalising on Leipzig’s sluggish opening spell. For a moment, the northern side looked capable of unsettling their more illustrious opponents.

But RB Leipzig responded in spectacular fashion. Rômulo produced a moment of improvisational genius, flicking the ball into the net with a stunning backheel while facing away from goal.

Just after the restart, the visitors completed the turnaround. Diomandé punished a costly error as Hamburg attempted to play out from the back, slotting home to give Leipzig the lead and shift control of the contest.

Rômulo had the chance to seal the win and crown his performance with a brace, but his penalty was expertly saved by Daniel Heuer Fernandes, keeping Hamburger SV alive and setting up a nervy finale.

Despite late pressure, RB Leipzig held firm to secure all three points. The victory keeps them fifth in the Bundesliga table and firmly in pursuit of the league’s top four.
