Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's head coach, shared his thoughts on Paulo Fonseca’s dismissal from AC Milan following their 1-1 draw with Roma last weekend.

"Being sacked is part of a coach’s job," Ancelotti said, via Gianluca Di Marzio. "I’ve been fired many times because, when problems arise in a team, the responsibility always falls on one person—the head coach. When things aren’t going well, the blame inevitably lands on the coach’s shoulders, even if it’s not always fair. Fonseca knows this as well as anyone."

Ancelotti praised Milan's performance against Real Madrid earlier this season, suggesting the decision was more about consistency: "Milan played very well against us and deserved to win. Perhaps Fonseca couldn’t deliver the stability the club was looking for. It’s that simple."

Fonseca's tenure at Milan lasted less than six months. Under his leadership, the Rossoneri accumulated 27 points in 17 Serie A matches, leaving them in 8th place. Meanwhile, their Champions League campaign faltered, with Milan sitting 12th in the group stage standings—a disappointing outcome for a club of their stature.
