The 2034 FIFA World Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia

The 2034 FIFA World Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia, and it will be alcohol-free. The tournament’s ambassador, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, confirmed in an interview with The Athletic that the organizers are firmly committed to keeping the event "dry."

"No, no. There will be no alcohol here. Just like our weather, the country is dry. We currently do not allow alcohol, but you know, you can have fun without it. It's not something you can't live without. If you want to drink after you leave, that's fine. But for now, we don’t have alcohol. Every country has its own culture, and we’re happy to welcome guests within ours, but we’re not going to change it for anyone. And seriously, can you not live without drinking?" he rhetorically asked the reporter.

According to Saudi Arabian law, since 1952, the possession or consumption of alcohol has been punishable by a fine or even deportation for non-residents.
