It was a day to forget for the Catalan side, who collapsed under pressure and self-inflicted damage

Girona — widely considered the most “Ukrainian” club in La Liga due to its strong Eastern European presence — suffered a humiliating 4-0 home defeat to Levante in Matchday 5 of the Spanish top flight.

It was a day to forget for the Catalan side, who collapsed under pressure and self-inflicted damage. Playing with nine men for a large portion of the match, Girona saw their hopes unravel following two red cards.

Axel Witsel was the first to be sent off, and Eteta Eyong wasted no time capitalising, putting Levante ahead shortly after. Things went from bad to worse when Vitor Reis also saw red — and Álvarez made it 2-0. Late goals from Romero and Koyalipu sealed a stunning rout for the visitors.

Among the Ukrainian players, only Vladyslav Vanat featured, starting the match but being substituted in the 53rd minute. Viktor Tsyhankov missed out due to injury, while Vladyslav Krapivtsov remained an unused substitute.
