FC Barcelona roared back to winning ways in emphatic fashion

FC Barcelona roared back to winning ways in emphatic fashion, dismantling Greek champions Olympiacos 6-1 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in the third round of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

It wasn’t smooth sailing early on for Flick’s side, who struggled to find rhythm in the opening half — especially with key players Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Ferran Torres all missing. Seventeen-year-old debutant Marc Guiu Fernández was handed a surprise start, and the Catalans looked unusually sluggish.

Olympiacos took full advantage, pushing forward bravely. Their persistence paid off when Ayoub El Kaabi converted from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute, giving the Greek side a shock lead. But the match turned on its head just minutes later — Santiago Hezze was sent off after a second yellow for a reckless foul on Marc Casadó.

From that point on, it was all Barcelona. A VAR-reviewed foul on Rashford gave young star Lamine Yamal the chance to equalise from the spot, which he did with ice-cold composure. Then came the floodgates — Marcus Rashford struck twice in quick succession (74’, 79’) and Fermin Lopez completed his sensational hat-trick with goals in the 7th, 39th, and 76th minutes.
